    The video clip at the beginning is not from Xinjiang- it is video footage of Uyghur factory workers being beaten in Shaoguan, Guangdong Province at the end of June 2009. This incident is widely viewed as the spark for the demonstrations and riots that subsequently took place in Xinjiang, beginning on July 5, 2009.
